Evolutec is
an international biopharmaceutical company that successfully floated
on AIM on August 2, 2004. The Company employs the tick’s “stealth
technology” against human diseases. An array of molecules
are present in the saliva of ticks that suppress mammalian immune
responses and have evolved over millions of years to enable ticks
to take blood from their hosts. These molecules offer the potential
of treating human diseases that are caused by over-responsiveness
of the immune system. Evolutec is developing these novel tick-derived
products for the treatment of allergic, inflammatory and autoimmune
diseases and their lead product is in phase II clinical development.
