New “Product Focus” section launched in Nature Magazine

Northbank Communications commissioned to supply editorial and design

Northbank Communications, the specialist communication company serving the scientific community, has announced that it has teamed up with Nature Magazine (in a unique co-operation) to supply content material and design for Nature’s 2004 two-page product information features to appear in a new section of Nature called “Product Focus”.

The new section, which replaces “New on the Market” first appeared in Nature from 1st January 2004 and is aimed at providing manufacturers and suppliers of products and services used by scientists with the opportunity to gain exposure for their product announcements and news. Nature magazine is read by over 650,000 scientists globally each week and, for its readers, the Product Focus section will ensure that new product news is presented in an informative and easy to read way, within the context of a focused technology area.

Commenting on the collaboration Sue Charles, CEO and co-founder of Northbank Communications said:

“This agreement underlines our leading position in science communications. We employ PhDs with writing and journalism expertise, thus enabling us to research and write high quality informative features. Our in-house design studio also enables us to provide Nature with fully finished artwork for each feature”. Dr Eileen Paul will be leading the writing team on this project.

John Michael, Global Head of Display Advertising at Nature Publishing Group said:

“We have chosen to work with Northbank as we are confident that they have a good grasp of innovations in the sector and have the necessary skills to provide quality editorial and artwork that will meet Nature’s standards”.

Topics for the Product Focus features will include:

Antibodies, Biochips, Chemical genomics, Chromatography, Combinatorial chemistry, DNA microarrays Electrophoresis, Genotyping, High throughput screening, Imaging, Lab automation, Liquid handling, Microfluidics, Microscopy, Pharmacogenomics, Pipettes, Protein macroarrays, Proteins/peptides, Robotics, Sample preparation, Scientific software, Sequencing and SiRNA amongst others.
