Corporate
identity provides unified front through UK biotech consolidation
Following
the high profile merger between British Biotech, RiboTargets
and Vernalis, a priority was placed on creating a strong corporate
identity for the new company, Vernalis plc, that would strengthen
the Company and project a unified image to the market.
Northbank
was commissioned to create and implement the corporate identity,
building on the existing relationship with RiboTargets.
Northbank had created a strong, clean and memorable identity
for RiboTargets and the view of Vernalis' CEO was that the existing
image already communicated many of the Company's values.
Therefore the decision was made to develop this identity to represent
the growth, combined strengths, vision and outlook of the new entity.
Simon
Sturge, Vernalis' CEO, commented, "It was important
for us to retain some consistency through the mergers, not forgetting
our heritage or the reputations we had built up for good science
and commercial acumen. So the corporate identity provided us with
an ideal opportunity to make an important inroad into company integration."
With
this in mind, Northbank's designers captured the personality
of the new Company, whilst sustaining characteristics from both
the Vernalis and RiboTargets logos, which were merged naturally
to accompany the retained name of Vernalis.
"The project provided us with an exciting opportunity to
build on an identity which has achieved good recognition within
the market",
noted Chris Fisher, Creative Director at Northbank. Chris continued, "It's
rewarding to retain a long term relationship with a client as they
evolve and to continue our support as their communication needs
change."
Vernalis' new identity was launched at the start of October
2003, including the new website www.vernalis.com and is now being
rolled out to further projects.
