Northbank grows Scandinavian biotech business

Northbank has added to its growing list of clients in Scandinavia with its appointment as provider of PR services to Santaris Pharma and BioInvent International. In recent years, biotech in this region has grown steadily. Medicon Valley, the location for both companies is the largest pharmaceutical and biotechnological cluster in Scandinavia with approximately 60% of the area’s industry in this area.

In addition to working with Ipsat Therapies, Symphogen, Borean Pharma and Jurilab, Northbank has been appointed to do the scientific PR for Swedish listed client BioInvent, focused on therapeutic antibody development and related services. To date, Northbank has carried out a messaging meeting to help communicate BioInvent's objective of raising its profile as product development focused company and will be focusing on ongoing media relations to support business development audiences.

Copenhagen-based Santaris Pharma, formed by the 2003 merger of Pantheco and Cureon, is focused on the treatment of cancer. It is a pioneer in the field of oligonucleotide drugs based on the third generation RNA chemistry, Locked Nucleic Acid (LNA), and is headed by Dr Keith McCullagh, former CEO of British Biotech. With its first product expected to enter the clinic shortly, Santaris should be one to watch.
