Northbank
celebrate 50 years of the double helix
Northbank Communications,
together with 10 of its leading
clients celebrated what is widely regarded
as one of the most important discoveries of the 20th Century,
the elucidation of the DNA double helix by Watson and Crick
with an
advertisement in Nature and a corresponding webpage.
To
mark this momentous occasion a full-page commemorative ad has
been commissioned for Nature's special issue ‘Celebrating
the 50th Anniversary of DNA'. The ad focuses on DNA's
dramatic influence on life science, and in turn how progressive
companies are now unlocking its secrets and reshaping the future.
Northbank therefore teamed up with ten of its leading clients that
are following Watson and Crick's innovative example, including
Apatech, atugen, Cenix, Cobra Biomanufacturing, Inforsense, Morphochem,
Noxxon Pharma AG, Oxford Biomedica, Solexa and The Automation
Partnership.
Northbank's
senior designer, Chris Fisher took his inspiration from Watson
and Crick's classic double helix structure and
added a playful twist by transforming the ad design into a celebratory
streamer. The advert also invited the audience to visit Northbank's
DNA-50 web page which can be found at www.northbankcommunications.com/dna-50,
which provides the Watson and Crick story, links to the 10 participating
companies and a useful DNA resource centre.
Northbank
CEO, Sue Charles, commented, "It seems only right
that we should celebrate this defining moment in science. Watson
and Crick, and not forgetting Franklin and Wilkins, have dramatically
shaped our industry, setting the precedent for the exciting developments
that our clients are making today."
