2003
has been a busy and eventful year. Just over a year
has
passed since the launch of Northbank Communications as
a new brand in the science communications sector, following
the merger of Charles Consultants into STMP Marketing.
The first half of the year was one of the most depressed
periods
in the Life Sciences sector and against this backdrop we
were delighted to achieve growth. As the year draws
to a
close positive sentiment is returning, share prices are
up, mergers are happening and, we are delighted to say,
Northbank has had its busiest period ever. I'd like to
thank our loyal clients and those that have joined the
fold more
recently. We look forward to achieving even greater success
together in 2004.
Sue
Charles, CEO

Medical
Futures winners grab headlines
Medical Futures
Innovation Awards, now in a third successful year, culminated on
30 October with a high profile awards ceremony held at RIBA, the
Royal Institute of British Architects, in London. The overall winner
of this year’s awards was a novel ophthalmoscope, providing
a low cost, simple to use alternative to existing designs and set
to revolutionise healthcare in the developing world.
|
Northbank
provided media relations support for Medical Futures, and worked
closely with the sponsors of the awards to disseminate news on the
individual winners. As a result, Medical Futures obtained TV coverage
on London Tonight and Sky News, and also gained news and feature
stories in the national and regional press (Financial Times, Daily
Telegraph, Cambridge Evening News, The Cornishman), and scientific
and trade press (New Scientist, Nature, BMA News, General Practitioner,
Hospital Doctor, Chemist & Druggist). Northbank also worked
to secure The Times as a media partner for the awards, resulting
in a two page feature in the Body & Soul supplement.
Andy Goldberg,
founder of Medical Futures, commented, “This year’s
competition was of the highest standard yet, and I am delighted
with the high level of awareness Northbank has achieved for the
awards.”
The project
was managed by Caroline Stupnicka and Katja Stout, who worked
proactively
with the media to generate interest and secure coverage.
